The Trips

In the Staszic High School there is a set of three special trips that every student takes part in. These excursions are not just for fun - their goals are to educate the students in a different way. Since the regular education in the School focuses mainly on mathematics, the trips focus on other subjects, such as nature and history.
The first trip takes the students to Rogów's Nature-Forestry Education Center, where they learn biology and ecology under the watch of the Warsaw University of Life Sciences. The trip consists of lectures, tutorials and some workshop. It lasts three days, after which the students test their newly acquired knowledge and present results of their work.

The second trip is to Vilnius - the capital city of Lithuania, a country that shares many parts of its history with Poland. This trip is focused on humanistic subjects and includes sightseeing in the city. Some of the cultural sites visited are the Sharp Gate, the Rasos Cemetery and the Trakai Island Castle. The students also have to prepare and perform a play about Adam Mickiewicz. After the five-days-long trip the student make a poster about their experience.

On their third and last trip, the students visit Cracow - the former capital of Poland - and Auschwitz-Birkenau Death Camp. The goal of this trip is to educate the students about Polish culture and history. Like the previous, this excursion also focuses on humanistic subjects and during four days the students visit numerous historical sites. Some of them are the Death Camp, Schindler's Factory and the Wawel Castle. The students also go to the theatre. After the trip the students must present what they have learnt.
