The Student Council

The School, like most other high schools in Poland, has its own student council, formed annually by students from each class. However, the one in Staszic is quite different from others.
Instead of being a simple representative student organization it has a form of an actual government. Each class elects a representative to the school senate, which is the institution that discusses the affairs of the student community. Every year the Staszic students vote for a new president as well. After a few weeks long campaign, the president is elected by a majority of the students in democratic elections. The president then nominates the commissars who have analogous roles to ministers in actual governments.

The Council - the senate and the government together - take care of the affairs of the students and manage student activity in the School. They organize internal events, sell Staszic merchandise and represent the School's students on numerous special occasions, such as events and holidays (especially the president). They are also responsible for the School's social media.
